Broughton Islands Flotilla Itinerary

 

Leg #1:  Bellingham to Desolation Sound (May 3-9)
          Please arrive in Bellingham on Friday in time to attend the 4:30pm Skippers Meeting.

Saturday, May 3 Fossil Bay (Sucia Island) 4 This diamond among the San Juan Islands gems offers unspoiled natural beauty, mooring buoys, docking and anchorage.
Sunday, May 4 False Creek* (Vancouver, BC) 8 A vibrant hub of big city life, False Creek's Granville Island offers docking and anchorage, restaurants, shopping, galleries, and an excellent farmer's market.
Monday, May 5 Pender Harbor 6 An intricate network of bays and summer-home lined coves, Pender Harbor offers docking and anchorage, groceries, pubs and restaurants.
Tuesday, May 6 Lund 8 A tiny fishing village at the doorstep of Desolation Sound, Lund provides docking and anchorage, a small market, pub/restaurant, bakery, and beautiful sunsets overlooking the Strait of Georgia.
Wednesday, May 7 Prideaux Haven 4 A glacier backdrop and pristine scenery make this one of the loveliest anchorages in Desolation Sound.  Myriad interconnected tiny coves for dinghy/kayak explorations.
Thursday, May 8 Von Donop Inlet 3 A long, narrow, serpentine entrance leads to a peaceful, completely protected, lake-like anchorage.
Friday, May 9 Heriot Bay** 2 Inn/Pub/Restaurant with docking, fuel and showers.  Nearby grocery.  Located on Quadra Island, 15 minutes by taxi and a short ferry ride from Campbell River (Vancouver Island).

Leg #2:  Desolation Sound to the Broughton Islands (May 10-16)

Saturday, May 10 Octopus Island 2 Anchor in this marine park, among an emerald cluster of islets.  Myriad coves and bays for exploration.
Sunday, May 11 Chameleon Harbor 3 Anchorage.  A pristine wilderness cove, tucked behind rocks.
Monday, May 12 Whirlpool Rapids 8 A gorgeous anchorage either just above or just below the rushing tidal rapids.
Tuesday, May 13 Matilpi Island 7 This is our favorite anchorage.  It is located in a tiny cove, between islets and the remnants of an old Coast Salish tribal midden.  We tie fore and aft with views both ways!
Wednesday, May 14 Kwatsi Bay 5 Cruise through a long, sheer gorge, with sweeping vistas of glaciers and dotted with waterfalls to this remote location.  Friendly stop offers anchorage, docks, dockside potluck, and a shop.
Thursday, May 15 Waddington Bay 4 Anchor in this serene secluded bay, studded with little islets.  Gorgeous!
Friday, May 16 Port McNeill 4 This is our favorite turn-around town.  Located on Vancouver Island it offers docks, hotels, supermarkets and an airport.

Leg #3:  Broughton Islands Round-Trip (May 19-28)

Monday, May 19 Booker Lagoon 5 A quiet anchorage in a lush lagoon that must be entered at high tide.
Tuesday, May 20 Pierre's Bay 2 A friendly scenic stop, offering an anchorage, docks, a shop, and a dock-side potluck.
Wednesday, May 21 Carriden Bay 5 This sheltered bay offers an anchorage with stunning views of glacier peaks.
Thursday, May 22 Lay Day --  
Friday, May 23 Little Nimmo Bay 3 Cruise up a lovely gorge to anchor in this quaint finger cove.
Saturday, May 24 Claydon Bay 3 A well-protected anchorage that offers good crabbing and splendid views.
Sunday, May 25 Kwatsi Bay 5 Cruise through a long, sheer gorge, with sweeping vistas of glaciers and dotted with waterfalls to this remote location.  Friendly stop offers anchorage, docks, dockside potluck, and a shop.
Monday, May 26 Lagoon Cove 4 An island social center, offering anchorage, docks, dockside potluck/happy hour, and shops.
Tuesday, May 27 Goat Islet Cove 2 Anchorage.  This cove is protected by a cluster of islets allows you the opportunity to visit an ancient Coast Salish tribal village.
Wednesday, May 28 Port McNeill 4 This is our favorite turn-around town.  Located on Vancouver Island it offers docks, hotels, supermarkets and an airport.
           Guests deboard at Port McNeill on Wednesday at 1pm.
Leg #4:  Broughton Islands to Desolation Sound (May 31 - June 6)
          Please arrive in Port McNeill on Friday, after 4pm.

Saturday, May 31 Monday Anchorage 5 Anchor and stern tie to a beautiful green islet opposite an ancient midden.

Wednesday, May 4 Dent Rapids 4 Three rapids in a row guard the entrance to Desolation Sound.  This stop offers anchorage, docks and a restaurant.
Thursday, May 5 Prideaux Haven 4 A glacier backdrop and pristine scenery make this one of the loveliest anchorages in Desolation Sound.  Myriad interconnected tiny coves for dinghy/kayak explorations.

Saturday, June 7 Squirrel Cove 4 A lovely protected anchorage with islets and it's own lagoon. Nearby settlement offers small grocery and liquor store as well as laundry.
Sunday, June 8 Blind Bay 7 Lunch at Westview then overnight at this anchorage at the entrance to Jervis Inlet.
Monday, June 9 Princess Louisa Inlet* 7 The beauty of this breathtaking fabled inlet and it's roaring falls defies description.  Anchorage, mooring buoys, or dock.
Tuesday, June 10 Pender Harbor 8 An intricate network of bays and summer-home lined coves, Pender Harbor offers docking and anchorage, groceries, pubs and restaurants.
Wednesday, June 11 False Creek* (Vancouver, BC) 5 A vibrant hub of big city life, False Creek's Granville Island offers docking and anchorage, restaurants, shopping, galleries, and an excellent farmer's market.
Thursday, June 12 Fossil Bay (Sucia Island) 4 This diamond among the San Juan Islands gems offers unspoiled natural beauty, mooring buoys, docking and anchorage.
Friday, June 13 Bellingham 4 Return to Bellingham on this final day of the flotilla.  Stop in to our office to say "hi" to our staff before starting your journey home.
           Guests deboard in Bellingham at 1pm on Friday.
