GETTING UNDERWAY
Chartering with us is as
easy as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5!
- Select your boat and dates. Select the yacht you desire and the dates you
prefer. Our standard charter week is Saturday 9AM through Friday noon
(during the summer season it is unlikely that we could accommodate an
off-standard week request because charters will be scheduled "back to
back"). Call us Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, 1-800-677-7245 , or
e-mail: charter@sanjuansailing.com to
confirm the dates are available and reserve your charter.
- Submit your cruising resume (if first time charter
guest).
Complete the
charter resume
(links to a fillable PDF that
can be printed or saved to your computer to attach to an e-mail to us)
and mail or e-mail it to San Juan Sailing.
- Sign and return charter agreement. San Juan Sailing will
e-mail
your charter agreement. Review the charter agreement before
sending a signed copy back to us. If you have chosen to send your reservation deposit (30%
of charter rate) in by check, and if you have not already sent the check, you should
include it with your signed agreement.
- Getting Ready.
Along with your charter agreement we will also e-mail you a
charter planning checklist containing general boat info, travel info, directions, and
checkout and preparation tips. Upon request, we can also send you a
sample packing list and a
sample menu (complete with
shopping list) to make your planning easier. In order to speed your checkout, we
highly recommend that you read the "Notes From The Owner" for your boat (found
on this website at the top of your boat's charter fleet specification page).
- On arrival. Our knowledgeable charter staff will orient you to
cruising the islands during the Safety and Navigation Briefing
(typically Friday at 4:30pm or Saturday at 9:30am) and
then give you a complete onboard checkout of your sailboat. We will be happy to assist you with cruise
planning, answer questions, and share with you our own special tips about cruising the
islands of the Pacific Northwest. Then youre off cruising the islands across
beautiful Bellingham Bay. Arrive a bit early for the 4:30pm Friday
Safety and Navigation Briefing? New this year, the Bellingham
Marine Life Center is offering you and your family a 45 minute marine
life orientation at 3:30pm each Friday during the summer.

- And if you are planning
to go into Canadian waters, there is a #6. Click
here for information.
Note regarding winter
charters (between the end of the fall off-season and the beginning of the
spring off-season): Winter cruising (at off-season
rates) is not recommended due to high winds (50+ knots) and wind waves (8+
feet), often unpredicted, that occur in our area. However, charters
may be available (minimum of 5 days) to those with significant experience,
upon approval by both the owner and the general manager of San Juan Sailing.
Please also note that most boats are undergoing extensive preventive
maintenance during the winter so the selection of vessels is limited.
