This overnight course builds on your basic knowledge and includes an overnight at anchor! In addition to anchoring, the course introduces navigation, reefing, sailing a plotted course, choosing proper sail configuration, and "heaving to". Your goal is to safely sail, both as skipper and crew, on a 30 to 40 foot sailboat in moderate wind and sea conditions. With a maximum of only 4 students, everyone receives plenty of helm time and hands-on sailing. All meals included. And, experience the cruising life while staying the night aboard your boat at anchor (weather-permitting)!
There will be both a written and a skills test to complete the course. Thorough study of your text will prepare you for your course and greatly enhance your learning experience. The Basic Coastal Cruising (103) curriculum (link below) will be helpful to follow while reviewing the text and will streamline your studying.
